Reed E. Schaper is a partner with the law firm of Curiale Dellaverson Hirschfeld & Kraemer, LLP, in Los Angeles. Mr. Schaper has represented employers in state and federal court in a variety of employment-related matters. He has trial experience in wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment and trade secret cases. He also represents employers in all proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board as well as in contract negotiations, grievances and arbitrations. Recognizing that prevention is preferable to litigation, Mr. Schaper promotes an active relationship with clients. This relationship emphasizes counseling and training in those issues employers frequently face: discipline and termination, harassment prevention and personnel policies. He also handles complex compliance issues such as affirmative action plan obligations for federal contractors or access and reasonable accommodation duties under disability laws. Mr. Schaper conducts management training and lectures on numerous employment topics. He was a contributing author to the initial edition of the CEB text, Advising California Employers, and has authored articles for the Los Angeles Daily Journal. Mr. Schaper grew up in California before attending the University of Pennsylvania where he received his B.A. in 1974. He received his J.D. cum laude from Indiana University in 1978. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
