Carmen Plaza de Jennings is a partner in the firm's San Francisco office. She practices in the area of labor and employment law, with an emphasis on the representation of public sector employers, including cities, counties, institutions of higher education, and special districts. She has spent her entire career as a labor and employment lawyer, representing both public and private employers. Ms. Plaza de Jennings’ practice involves all areas of labor and employment law, including labor negotiations, advice and counseling, labor arbitrations, training, investigations and litigation. She provides ongoing advice to clients regarding labor and employment matters, including employee discipline and performance issues, sexual harassment, the Americans With Disabilities Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Ms. Plaza de Jennings also advises community colleges on instructional program issues and such matters as the hiring, retention, discipline, and dismissal of faculty and staff, and on matters of student discipline and student rights. Ms. Plaza de Jennings has presented workshops and provided extensive training to institutions of higher education and other public and private sector employers. From 1978 to 1990, Ms. Plaza de Jennings worked as an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board. From 1985 to 1990 she was a Supervisory Attorney in the San Francisco Regional Office of the National Labor Relations Board. As a Supervisory Attorney, Ms. Plaza de Jennings handled complex trials and supervised all aspects of Board work, including the investigation and prosecution of unfair labor practice cases, and representation matters.
